Object Story- "Prolugue" of a story

The dragon’s flaming breath scorched the air in an angry hiss. Kate and I barely dodged the flames in time. We fell to the ground and looked at one another. We both knew that we were never going to win this. The dragon was too strong now it wasn’t a figure anymore. The forest was burned down to a crisp. I looked past Kate and saw my bow. “ Get my bow!”, I yelled to Kate. She lunged for the bow, but the dragon was too fast and swung her across the opening. I watched in horror as Kate lied there looking lifeless. Think think THINK! There was no time for thinking the dragon was already making its way in my direction. I army crawled to the bow and slinged and arrow into place. I hit the dragon right in the eye. It screeched and in it’s moment of distress swung its tail around and nailed me. I smacked into a thick tree and fell to the ground.
A high pitched ringing rang in my ears.Get up! I yelled at myself. Get up now! Save Kate!
I strained to get up and tried to focus my vision. I saw a blurry figure of the dragon making its way towards Kate. I screamed to Kate to get up, to move, to do anything, but she just laid there motionless. I couldn’t think my mind was in a panic. Then the sound of gunshot went off and the dragon gave another screech and out of its shoulder came a trickle of blood. I looked to my right and out of the trees came a figure. I couldn’t make out who the figure was. Until I saw something that no one else does but him in a fight. Is that? No, it can’t be this is all wrong! He’s dead!

To be continued. . .

  1. Hey, Nichole :) I like the way the story unfolds in my mind. The image it gives me, especially in the part where the dragon hit her with his tail.

  5. This looks like a promising start! You left everyone in suspense with that last line! I wonder if you'll revisit this and continue the story?
